LONDON CONCHORD ENSEMBLE and friends
Guest Artist: MATTHEW TRUSLER, violin

Tuesday, 22 January 2008 at 7.45pm
The German School, Petersham Road, Petersham

Among the most enjoyable concerts in the past two seasons have been the visits made to the Richmond Concert Society by the London Conchord Ensemble.

They have been invited again this season to play a whole evening devoted to the music of J. S. Bach. This will include the Concerto for two violins, with the guest artist Matthew Trussler. The London Conchord Ensemble was formed in 2002 by internationally recognised young performers, including principal players from the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Opera House Orchestra, the Philharmonia and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

For this concert it will be necessary to expand the ensemble, hence the meaning of the word ‘friends’.

It will be a wonderful way of celebrating the New Year with vitality and melodic invention which marks the music of one whom many regard as the greatest composer of them all.

The Ensemble have appeared at many of the leading festivals and have toured Germany and the Netherlands. Among their several recordings are CD’s of Poulenc Chamber Music, a disc of compositions by Loeffler, Pierné and Duruflé. They have also recorded George Crumb’s Voice of the Whale and a disc of music by Ludwig Thuille, an almost forgotten composer of the early part of the 20th century.
